You're Good to Me

A 2 track funk single (8m 20s) — released August 27th 2012 on Hero Records

After the success of their debut single, "Figo" b/w "Keep Running", Darlington-based jazz and funk combo Weekend Sun return to Hero Records to release their hotly anticipated follow-up single "You're Good To Me" b/w "Her Name Escapes Me".

Weekend Sun's core consists of dj and producer Chris Tarn and double bass player Phil Smith, both from Darlington in the sunny north east of England, who produce their music alongside a long list of live collaborators. They produce a range of jazz-tinged styles that have their focus firmly places on the dancefloor and the aforementioned debut release has received plays and plaudits from such luminaries as Craig Charles (BBC 6 Music), Keb Darge, Bill Brewster (DJ History / Last Night A DJ Saved My Life), and Smoove (Smoove & Turrell) and lead to a number of live booking including a support slot for Tru Thought's Belleruche. The new single show's us the funky side to the band with the incredible "You're Good To Me" first up. Heavy beats, driving bass, funky guitar, frantic percussion and powerful horns combine with Esther Taylor's sweet vocals to bring a masterpiece in jazzy funk that is impossible to sit still to. The flip shows a mellower side to the band mixing Esther's vocals with a groovy latin-flavoured backing to create another infectious dancefloor-bound track.

Weekend Sun have a number of live dates lined up this year to help promote the band including their first festival booking at the Just So Festival in Chesire, England. As well as gigging and promoting their new single Weekend Sun are currently writing and recording their debut album.
